Giulio Maria Marcheggiani Muccioli

Giulio Maria Marcheggiani Muccioli, MD, PhD is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the “Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli” in Bologna (Department 2nd Orthopaedic and Traumatologic Clinic, task “knee and shoulder surgery”). He obtained a PhD in Surgical Sciences at the University of Bologna, where he work as Adjunct Professor in Exercise and Sport Sciences. In 2017 he obtained the National Scientific Qualification as associate professor. He is author/co-author of 198 publications (Official H-Index: 15): 62 scientific papers published in International journals (55 with impact factor), 17 scientific papers published in Italian National journals, 68 abstract presented in International meetings, 32 abstract presented in Italian National meetings, 14 book chapters. He is also author/co-author of 4 scientific videos. He attended as presenter more than 100 international and Italian national meetings. He was one of the founders and the first president of the AISOT (Italian Orthopaedic and Trauma Residents Association) – He is an active member of the Upper Limb Committee of the SIGASCOT (Italian Society of Knee surgery, Arthroscopy, Cartilage surgery and Orthopaedic Technologies) and of other Italian national and international scientific societies, as for example ISAKOS (International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee surgery and Orthopaedic Sports medicine), ESSKA (European Society of Sports Traumatology Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy) and EFORT (European Federation of national association of Orthopaedics and Traumatology).
He is Reviewer for the following International Scientific Journals: European Orthopaedics and Traumatology; The Knee; Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy; Acta Orthopaedica; Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research; Journal of Anatomy; Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology; Bone

He worked in several national and international/EU founded projects, standing out as coordinator for Italy of the Z-Lig Multicentric International Study: “A Prospective, Randomized, Double-Blind, Multicenter Clinical Trial to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of the Z-Lig Medical Device Compared to Allograft for the Reconstruction of Ruptured Anterior Cruciate Ligaments” Principal Investigators (Italy): Zaffagnini S, Marcacci M.
