Prensilia SRL is a company spun out from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa in 2009, by researchers of the ARTS Lab (Advanced Robotics and Technology Laboratory), with long experience in research and development of innovative robotic and biomedical devices. Company associates have been involved in several national and international research projects in the field of robotics, hand prosthetics, and neuroscience allowing them to acquire and consolidate the key expertise of Prensilia. Starting from customers’ requirements Prensilia designs, customizes and manufactures advanced robotic hands endowed with embedded actuation, sensory and control systems. The ability of the company to translate research and design activity into viable and innovative products allowed it to develop IH2 Azzurra, the first market available 5-axis human sized, anthropomorphic hand with actuation, sensory and control system embedded in the palm. In 5 years of commercial activity Prensilia was able to build up and maintain an active network of collaborators and clients located in more than 15 countries worldwide.

Development, engineering, and optimization of the final version of the prosthetic hand and support
for the development and integration of sensors in the prosthetic hand (WP2); integration of the prosthetic hand with the other hardware and the control system (WP7); work package leader for Communication, dissemination and exploitation (WP9).
