Vincenzo Denaro

Vincenzo Denaro is professor emertitus of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery since 2000. Currently, he has served as the coordinator of the Spine Unit of the Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery of UCBM. He has been the Director of the Residency Program in Orthopaedic Surgery for more than 20 years. He worked in the Department of Orthopaedics of University of Pavia, and later in the University of Catania as Professor of Hand Surgery from 1987. Since 1994 he joined the UCBM, School of Medicine. He is the Past President of the Italian Spine Surgery Society (SICV&GIS). He performed a wide
program of teaching and research on spinal surgery, hand and upper limbs surgery and regenerative medicine of the musculoskeletal system. He has authored and co-authored over 300 original publications, where over 200 are published on peer-reviewed international journal such as New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet. His total Impact Factor is over 200. He is the author of two books entitled “Stenosis of Cervical Spine” and “Pitfalls in cervical spine surgery” edited by Springer-Verlag. He is P.I. of PCR 1/2: Nuove metodiche, nel trattamento delle amputazioni di arto, finalizzate all’applicazione di protesi bioniche” funded by the Italian Workers Compensation Authority (INAIL). He is Co-PI in “PPR AS 1/3: Evoluzione di un sistema impiantabile per il controllo della protesi di arto superiore con interfacce neurali invasive, con interfacce wireless” funded by the Italian Workers Compensation Authority (INAIL). He actively contributes to the H2020 project RESPINE, REgenerative therapy of intervertebral disc: a double blind phase 2b trial of intradiscal injection of mesenchymal stromal cells in degenerative disc disease of the lumbar SPINE unresponsive to conventional therapy (Proposal number: 732163).
